›TG Literature - Fiction

The following is a listing of published transgender books, both hardcopy and ebooks. It is not all inclusive. Works published by Reluctant Press or on the internet are already well represented by their own web sites and are not be listed here. “How to” and self help books are also absent as these tend to be more like technical manuals and not true literature although some authors working in that genre are excellent writers who make their subject entertaining as well as instructive. Finally pornographic or material that in my opinion is overly exploitative has been excluded. This listing is divided into two parts, biographies/autobiographies and fiction. To date the majority of books by and on transgender people have been biographical in nature. While beneficial to the community as well as instructive to the general population they tend to be limited in scope. After all, how many times can one tell their life story. Fiction on the other hand is limited only by the writer’s imagination and is, in my humble opinion a vast field just waiting to be plowed.

For those new to TG literature I make the following recommendations:

» Biographies and Autobiographies

Wrapped in Blue by Donna Rose Donna pulls no punches as she tells her story. It is one that is well written, comprehensive and compelling, a must read in my humble opinion for those who are thinking about traveling down this road less traveled.

She’s Not There by Jennifer Finny Boylan Being very Irish Jennifer cannot but help weave a compelling and entertaining story of her life and those she loves. You’ll find yourself traversing the full range of emotions as she guides you through her life long pursuit of happiness.

» Fiction
Any one of Jenny Walkers four books are great, but I’ve ranked them in the order I prefer them and recommend and not in the order they were written.

Chasing Hope : This is the story of the owner of a New Hampshire ad agency who is enlisted to help a senator during his presidential campaign. A fair number of twists and turns as well as nicely placed   flashbacks make this story interesting and compelling.

No Half Measures, Volume One : This follows the emergence of a young Welsh rock singer as she   pursues success and her dreams, but not as she had once envisioned them

No Half Measures, Volume Two : The story continues as our young singer finds there’s more to life than success

Breaking Cover : An analysis for MI – 6 takes on a role he’s always dreamed of, but not as he would have preferred. While at first this story may seem to be a bit contrived and similar to other TG works that follow this line Jenny Walker does a marvelous job of telling a rousing good adventure story that is sure to satisfy just about every James Bond nut out there. It’s well worth your time.

I invite anyone who knows of a good book that should to be listed here to contact me and provide me with the title of the book, the author’s name and where I can find information about it. Your assistance in this effort will be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,
Nancy Cole
